July 2, 2007 - Jon competed at the USA-Russia-Ukraine meet this past weekend. He scored an 89.600 to win the all around. As a team USA scored a 268.250 for third place.
March 4, 2007 - With an all around score of 92.750 Jon defended his American Cup Title! He scored a 15.900 on floor; 14.350 on pommel horse; 15.550 on still rings; 15.850 on vault; 15.750 on parallel bars; and a 15.350 on high bar! October 14, 2006 - Today's prelimary competition was a disappointment for team USA as they did not advance onto the final round of competition. Jon did compete in the all around, but because of the two-per-country rule will not advance to the all around finals. He still is in the running for a spot in the vault finals. It is unknown until tomorrow whether that spot will be his or not.
August 25, 2006 - Last weekend Jon competed at the USA National Championships and placed second. He also won the floor exercise event final. From the USA National Championships he qualifed to the USA National Team and the 2006 World Team! Congrats and Good Luck at Worlds Jon!
July 16, 2006 - Jon competed only three events at this past weekends USA National Qualifer, yet he was pre-qualifed to the USA National Championships next month in St. Paul, Minnesota. He placed 4th on pommel horse, 2nd on vault, and 6th on parallel bars.
June 27, 2006 - Jon traveled with 5 other members of the USA National Team this past weekend to France where they competed in a tri-meet with France and Switzerland. USA finished first with a score of 353.05. Jon finished second in the all around with a 87.00. Inside Gymnastics has also posted an article about Jon on their website: The X Factor.
April 14, 2006 - Last weekend was a weekend of victory for Jon. First he lead his Oklahoma team to the Team title at the 2006 NCAA Championships where they scored a 221.400 for first place over Illinois. He then went on to take the All Around title over Illinois Justin Spring with a score of 56.000. The next night of competition was another night of victories when Jon won the floor exercise and still rings titles with scores of 9.575 and 9.637 respectivly. He went on to place 10th on vault, 4th on parallel bars and 3rd on the high bar.
March 28, 2006 - Jon had a fairly successful weekend at the 2006 MPSF Championships this past weekend. As a team the Oklahoma Sooners stole away the show winning the team title. On an individual level Jon finished second in the all around with a 54.100 tied to Stanford's David Sender. He went on to win the floor exercise and still rings title as well as placing second on parallel bars and fourth on vault. At the end of the competition Jon was named MPSF Gymnast of the year! The next meet for Jon is the 2006 NCAA Championships held on his home turf in Norman, OK.
March 16, 2006 - Following his win at the American Cup, Jon was named the College Gymnastics Association National Gymnast of the week for the third time this season! From there he was back in the NCAA action as he helped the Sooners pull a win over Stanford and Nebraska at the final home meet of the regular season. Jon scored a 9.250 on floor for a second placed tie, a 9.650 for second place on the rings, a 9.000 on vault, a 9.000 for second on parallel bars, and a 9.200 for third on high bar. Following his awesome performance he was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week, ALSO for the third time this season! Next stop is the MPSF Championships. Good Luck Sooners!
March 4, 2006 - Taking a weekend off of NCAA Jon competed for the American Team in the 2006 American Cup. A successful meet it was as Jon won the meet! After day one he was in second place behind Japan's Hisashi Mizutori and at the end of today he won the meet ahead of Mizutori with a total AA score of 92.500. Congrats on an AMAZING meet Jon!
February 19, 2006 - Jon's season started out very successfuly as he has helped the Sooners to many first place finishes. He also competed in the Winter Cup Challange where he was named to the 2006 National Team. He will be competing in the 2006 American Cup this upcoming March! Congrats Jon!
October 9, 2005 - Jon came home with a team gold after the 2005 Pan American Championships this past weekend. He also was the top USA finisher in the all around, finishing fifth. He also competed in the vault event finals finishing 8th with an 8.675; and the high bar event finals where he also finished 8th with a score of 8.175. Congrats to Jon on a great competition.
September 3, 2005 - Jon along with Oklahoma Teammate, Jamie Henderson, have been selected as part of the 2005 Pan American Games team. The competition will take place from October 6-9. Other teammates include: Guillermo Alvarez (Minnesota), Joseph Hagerty (Ohio State), and David Durante. Good Luck USA!
August 12, 2005 - With a score of 53.750, Jon finished in 5th place at tonights USA National Championships! Although the full national team has not been announced yet, we will know tomorrow if Jon is on it! Making a huge comeback from 13th place, Jon pulled his way up to finishing second for the night and 5th all around. Congrats on a great competition Jon!
August 10, 2005 - Jon competed in tonights Prelims competition of the 2005 USA Gymnastics Championships. He started off the night with a 9.6 on vault, yet didn't stay at top for long. He had some problems with his parallel bars routine which gave him an 8.0. In the third rotation Jon fell off of his release move on high bar which scored him 8.05. Jon's bad luck streak continued with a fall on floor where he scored a 8.5. Pommel Horse was Jon's low event of the night as he scored a 7.70... His final routine of the night, still rings, was going well until he put his hands down on his dismount to score a 8.400. Jon will be competing in the final round of competition tomorrow night!
July 14, 2005 - This past week was Champions day at the White House. Jon and the rest of his Oklahoma team visited and met President Bush alongside the other NCAA Champions from 2005. As a team they presented him with an OU Flag signed by the whole team!
July 1, 2005 - Even though he is pre-qualifed, Jon competed last weekend at the USA Nationals Qualifer. He only competed in four events scoring an all around score of 32.800 placing 20th. Jon is now back to the gym focusing on the 2005 National Championships.
May 24, 2005 - Jon just returned from France where competed in the French International. Although he had a good competition, Jon did not qualify to any of the event finals. He is now turning his focus over to the 2005 Nationals Qualifer on the 25th of June!
January 2, 2005 - Jon competed in late December in the Pan American Games along with Stanford gymnast, David Sender. After the first day of prelims Jon qualifed to the vault, rings, & high bar final events where he placed second on vault, first on rings, and third on high bar to bring home some medals for the USA. Congrats Jon on an awesome way to start the season!
July 7, 2004 - Jonathan's season has come to an end, Congratulations to him on such an AWESOME season!
June 26, 2004 - Tonight Jon competed in his first ever Olympic Trials. Although he didn't qualify to the selection camp, Jon had a great night and gained a lot of expereince. He scored an 8.6 on pommel horse, 9.35 on still rings, 9.425 on vault, 8.95 on parallel bars, an 8.1 on high bar, and a 9.050 on floor exercise. Congrats ton Jon on a great meet!
June 25, 2004 - Jonathan (18), is the youngest gymnast to compete at the Olympic Trials this year. Yesterday June 24th, the Nation's best gymnasts are in Anaheim, California to compete for a chance to go to the 2004 Olympics, Jonathan had a pretty good meet. He had a total All-Around score of 53.9! Best of Luck to Jonathan who competes Saturday night in finals!
June 5, 2004 - Last night Jon, showed why he is one of the best young gymnasts in the Nation. He placed 8th All-Around in the US National Championships Finals with a score of 54.925. His combined All-Around total was 109.800 Placing him in 10th place over all! Because he has such a great finish he is now a SR National Team Member, and at the end of the month he will go to California and try to make the 2004 Olympics! Congratulations Jonathan on such a great finish!
HORTON HEARS HIS FUTURE: Jonathon Horton hears his future calling, and it includes the Olympics. But the 18-year-old knows that despite his 10th place finish in Nashville which earned him a Trials berth, his Games are probably still to come.
?I?ve wanted to go to Olympic Trials my whole life,? he said. ?But for me this is just a first step. I?m young.?
For now, Horton, who will be a freshman at Oklahoma in the fall, is just reveling in his first Senior National Team berth. ?I knew I could do it," he said with a smile. ?I came in expecting to do what I can, and that?s what I did and I came out victorious.?
June 2, 2004 - Jon along with the Nations best gymnasts are in Nashville this week, competing at the 2004 US National Championships. In his first time competing in the senior devision he finished 11th All-Around with a score of 54.875, tonight was prelims. Jon will go on to compete Friday night in the finals. The top 14 will go onto compete at the Olympic Trials
February 29, 2004 - Jonathan is currently at the US Olympic Training Center along with the other national team members. He says that he is doing good, but tierd.
February 8, 2004 - In this weekends Winter Cup, the nations best came together in one meet in Las Vegas. Over 80 people competed Friday night, Jon finished 34th All-Around with a score of 50.625
January 27, 2004 - In this weekends Babcock Invitational in Pennsylvania at Parkettes, Jon won not only the elite session but the class 1 session as well! In the elite session there were only four competitiors but Jon won by almost 8 points! He placed first on every event except for pommel horse in which he scored a 7.8 for second. In the Class 1 Session Jon won the all around by about four tenths. He won every event excpet for Pomme Horse in which he scored an 8.3 (for 10th place) and high bar in which he scored a 9.2 (for second). Jon helped the Cypress team win the meet in the Class 1 Session as well!
January 11, 2004 - Jon competed yesterday at the Ricky Deci Invite. Jon had a great meet and won the all around! Scores and other results from the meet are coming soon.
December 14, 2003 - Congrats to Jon at this weekends Valarie Luikin Invite. He placed sixth all around. The rest of his results from the competition will come at a later time!
